Spring in NYC: when the cherry blossoms bloom, the Yankees take the field, and — most importantly — you can finally sip a Spritz al fresco again.
Here are my go-to spots for enjoying a cold Aperol Spritz outdoors—because let’s be honest, after braving FiDi’s icy wind tunnels, and before the city turns into one big, sticky heatwave, you deserve a little sunshine with a spritz!
1. The Frying Pan (Chelsea)

Starting off with a classic NYC spot – The Frying Pan is a casual option to have a spritz on the Hudson River. It’s a fun experience because not only are you sitting al fresco, but you are also spritzing on a boat! There is plenty of seating and you don’t need waitress service. However, for-warning – this spot is beloved by interns/ young 20-somethings. Despite the abundant seating, you may still experience a line during sunset on a warm Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.
2. Central Park Boathouse (Upper East Side)

If you’re chasing your ‘Sex and the City‘ moment, look no further than the Central Park Boathouse. It’s a first-come-first-served basis, but the line moves quick. If you don’t feel like a full. meal, there’s usually room at the outdoor bar to have your spritz & snacks!
Bonus points: after a little liquid courage, rent a rowboat for $25/hour. It fits up to four people and delivers peak NYC romance (just don’t fall in!).
3. The Jimmy (SoHo)

Ah, The Jimmy — this rooftop holds a special place in my heart. It was here, cocktail in hand and skyline in view, that I decided I had to move to NYC after college!
The vibe? A little fancy, with that signature “SoHo-fashion-feel” (yes, there’s a pool in the middle; and no, no one uses it).
Expect influencer-types and pricey cocktails, but honestly? The view makes it all worth it.
** If you’re after a more laid-back scene, go before sunset. But once it gets dark? Throw on your best dress and heels, and soak in the twinkling lights of the city that never sleeps!
4. Ophelia (Lenox Hill)

Ophelia is a hidden gem in Midtown East that brings the glam — just in a more intimate setting. Tucked inside the Beekman Tower, this small rooftop bar serves up unique (and delicious) cocktails—yes, including the lovely Aperol Spritz!
I’d recommend making a reservation in advance, as the outdoor terrace is small & fills up fast. From your perch, you get a direct view of First Avenue, making this spot perfect for romantizing all of your NYC dreams in the city buzz.
It’s the ideal spot to kick off the night with girlfriends – especially if you’re coming from the Upper East Side of Manhattan, before hopping on the Q and heading downtown.
